Rescue Excavation in Ibri Reveals Bronze Age Graves
A rescue excavation by Oman’s Department of Heritage and Tourism in A’Dhahirah has uncovered 25 Bronze Age graves in the Al-Sabikhi area of Ibri, dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. Finds include skeletal remains, complete pottery vessels (some imported from Mesopotamia’s Jemdet Nasr civilization), and stone and shell beads. Specialists are now studying and preserving the artifacts. The discovery highlights Oman’s cultural connections with neighboring civilizations and adds to the nation’s archaeological heritage.
