Sable Island National Park Reserve
Sable Island is a remote island in the North Atlantic Ocean, located about 300 km southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Managed by Parks Canada as a National Park Reserve, the island is known for its wild horses, shifting sand dunes, shipwreck history, and dense fog.
It is staffed year-round, with an increase in researchers and seasonal staff during the summer. The island is part of Halifax Regional Municipality and is designated as an Important Bird Area due to its unique ecosystem.
