Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve features a diverse range of ecosystems, including temperate coastal rainforests, ocean environments, and rugged shorelines. It is notable for having nine large forested valleys that have remained free from logging and industrial development.
The area's rainforests, alpine landscapes, rivers, and lakes support a rich variety of species, many of which are considered rare or endangered. As surrounding regions face habitat fragmentation and biodiversity loss, this reserve plays a critical role in providing a sanctuary and natural corridor for species recovery and dispersal.

Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
