Tuktut Nogait National Park
Tuktut Nogait National Park, established in 1998 in the Northwest Territories, means 'young caribou' in Inuvialuktun. It protects the calving grounds of the Bluenose-West caribou herd and is home to muskoxen, grizzly bears, Arctic char, red foxes, wolverines, Arctic ground squirrels, collared lemmings, and Arctic wolves.
The park is an important nesting area for migratory birds, including raptors such as peregrine falcons, golden eagles, and gyr falcons. Occasionally, the Dolphin-Union caribou herd reaches the park in search of snow-free feeding areas.
