Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve
Located about 80 kilometers east of Quebec City, the Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve stretches along the northern shore of the Saint Lawrence River. The landscape ranges in elevation from 5 to 1,150 meters above sea level and encompasses a variety of ecosystems, including farmland, freshwater and tidal river systems, estuarine marshes and flats, as well as coniferous and mixed forests.
Higher elevations feature krummholz vegetation and alpine tundra, reflecting the area's ecological richness and topographic diversity.
Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
