Pukaskwa National Park
Pukaskwa National Park, established in 1978, is located south of Marathon in northern Ontario. It spans 1,878 km² and protects the longest undeveloped shoreline on the Great Lakes, featuring scenic Lake Superior views and boreal forests.
The Hattie Cove Campground is the only road-accessible area via Highway 627. The park includes a 60 km Coastal Hiking Trail with two suspension bridges and connects to the Voyageur Hiking Trail.
In 2017, a 24 km trail called Mdaabii Miikna was added. The name 'Pukaskwa' has various Indigenous interpretations, while 'Pukasu' refers to a traditional marrow-cooking method.
