Forillon National Park, established in 1970 as Quebec's first national park, is located at the northeastern tip of the Gaspé Peninsula and spans 244 square kilometers. This protected area features a striking combination of coastal cliffs, dense forests, salt marshes, pebble beaches, and sand dunes.
It also marks the eastern terminus of the Appalachian mountain range. The park’s landscapes offer critical habitats for marine life, seabirds, and boreal wildlife.
Visitors can observe whales, seals, and a variety of bird species. The name 'Forillon' is believed to originate from a now-collapsed sea stack that once stood offshore as a natural landmark.
The area is also culturally significant, reflecting the heritage of fishing communities and Indigenous peoples who have long relied on these lands and waters.
