Al Talli, Traditional Embroidery Skills in the United Arab Emirates
Talli is a traditional hand-woven craft characterized by its bright colors and beautiful designs. It is considered one of the components of the cultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
Talli is used to decorate women's clothing, such as wedding dresses, in addition to formal dresses and daily wear. The craft of Talli takes a long time and is passed on informally from mothers to daughters, as well as formally through training courses and workshops held in schools, universities, and heritage development centers.
This craft is characterized by its social dimension, where women gather in homes and residential neighborhoods to braid Talli, and it also provides an opportunity for social interaction, exchange of knowledge, and telling stories and popular proverbs.
