Fada Archei Faunal Reserve

Fada Archei Faunal Reserve is a nature reserve for animals located in northeastern Chad. The reserve is located in a transitional geographical area between the coast and the desert, and it is characterized by amazing natural characteristics consisting of a series of rocky ridges in which arid sand dunes are interlaced with a few wadis.
The region receives very little rain annually, and there are six large ponds that come from springs. Plant life flourishes in the valleys of the reserve and on the banks of rivers, where it is covered by forests of acacia and Boscia, in addition to Ficus and Vitex.
Weeds and aquatic plants such as sedge, phragmites and Potamogeton are widespread at the ponds. The reserve is a destination for many bird species, and its waters contain many endemic fish species.
As for wildlife, it also includes a group of threatened animals such as the Northeast African cheetah, Addax, Barbary sheep, Dorcas gazelle, in addition to Panthera Leo (a lion subspecies found in West Africa).
