Sena Oura National Park, OR Sena Oura Biosphere Reserve, is a biosphere reserve and a national park status in Chad near the border with Cameroon. The park is one of the last remnants of the East Sudanian savanna in Chad, which is still untouched.
The vegetation in the park is characterized by the presence of open forests with tall trees and dense bushes, in addition to tall and dense grasses as well. The park is also home to many animals including 16 species of endangered animals such as the African elephant, the lion, and the cheetah.
The park is characterized by the abundance of fertile lands and favorable agricultural climatic conditions for traditional agriculture and livestock grazing, which made it a source of livelihood for nearly 90% of the region’s population.
Sena Oura National Park is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
