Lake Fitri is a natural freshwater lake located in central Chad. The lake is shallow and changes in size according to seasonal precipitation, as it can triple in size in wet years, and may also dry up during severe droughts.
The main source of nutrition for the lake is the Batha River, in addition to the seasonal rainfall and the resulting streams and wadis. The lake is an important habitat for many aquatic plants and waterfowl, and it is considered a Wetland of International Importance according to the Ramsar Convention.
