Wadi Allaqui Biosphere Reserve
Wadi Allaqui Biosphere Reserve is a nature reserve located at the Wadi Allaqui (Wadi Allaqi) in the Eastern Desert of Egypt on the eastern side of Lake Nasser. Wadi Allaqi is a dry river that in the past sprang from the hills of the Red Sea and flowed into the Nile Valley, and today it is a seasonal valley.
The vegetation cover of the valley is related to the period when it is flooded with water seasonally, where we see a diversity between the herbs of the dry areas, in addition to some trees such as the Egyptian balsam, Salvadora persica and acacia trees.
Wadi Allaqui Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
