Omayed Nature Reserve
Omayed Nature Reserve, also Omayed Biosphere Reserve, is a biosphere reserve located in the Egyptian northwest coast west of Alexandria, and it includes a variety of habitats and natural biological communities, in addition to a group of villages and human settlements. Omayed Nature Reserve consists of coastal dunes, inland ridges, saline and non-saline depressions, and inland plateau, and is located in a desert and semi-desert ecosystem.
The vegetation cover includes many types of wild plants and grassy pastures. The fauna found there includes deer, hares, desert foxes and some types of predatory birds, reptiles and turtles.
Omayed Nature Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
