Djurdjura National Park
Djurdjura National Park, also designated as the Djurdjura Biosphere Reserve, is a protected natural area located in the Djurdjura Mountains of northeastern Algeria, at elevations ranging from approximately 800 to 2,300 meters. Due to its mountainous setting and Mediterranean climate, the park hosts extensive evergreen forests composed of conifers, cedar, and oak, alongside alpine grasslands.
The park supports a rich fauna including the Barbary macaque, wild boar, red fox, weasel, hyena, and lynx, as well as a wide diversity of bird species, highlighting its ecological significance.
Djurdjura National Park was submitted in 2025 to the UNESCO Tentative List in Algeria.
The area was also designated in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR) in 1997.
