Chréa National Park
Chréa National Park, or Chréa Biosphere Reserve, is a natural reserve located in the Atlas Mountains, north of Algeria, and most of its area is located in Blida Province. The park is rich in endangered Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica), oak and Aleppo pine, along with grasslands.
The park plays a vital role in the region, especially as a water reservoir for large cities such as Algiers and Blida. It also includes many rare ecosystems and endangered animals, the most important of which is the Barbary macaque.
Chréa National Park is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
Designation date: 2002
