Bimaristan al-Mu’ayyadi

Bimaristan al-Mu’ayyadi, also known as Maristan of al-Mu’ayyad, is a historic hospital from the Mamluk era located in Cairo, Egypt. It was built by the Mamluk sultan Al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh between 1418 and 1420 AD. Over the years only the facade of the building and the walls of its main hall remain, it has been completely restored and renovated in recent years. Bimaristan al-Mu’ayyadi was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 as part of Historic Cairo.
