Samba Dia Biosphere Reserve

Samba Dia Biosphere Reserve is a nature reserve located on the Atlantic coast within the savannahs of Senegal, West Africa. The reserve is distinguished by its trees, the most important of which are the Acacia seyal, Combretum glutinosum, Anogeissus leiocarpus and the Borassus aethiopum that is seen in the coastal forests.
The reserve is threatened because its resources are insufficient to support the people who practice agriculture and grazing and also collect firewood from the forest, which prompted the preparation of studies with the aim of rehabilitating the forest and protecting the biodiversity in the area.
Samba Dia Biosphere Reserve is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
