Saloum Delta National Park
Saloum Delta National Park is a national park and biosphere reserve located in the deltas of the Sine and Saloum rivers in the southeast of Dakar in Senegal. The reserve consists of marine areas, flooded areas, sandy islands and mangrove forests.
The reserve combines nature, extensive biodiversity, and human development, which is represented by the sustainable cultivation of oysters, which is a very important source of food and export for the local community and Senegal in general. The reserve is also home to the largest concentration of royal terns, as well as a breeding area for migratory waterfowl, including endangered species.
Saloum Delta National Park is included in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR).
