Ennedi Plateau

Ennedi Plateau

Ennedi Plateau is a plateau located in the regions of Ennedi-Ouest and Ennedi-Est in the northeast of Chad. It is a part of the Ennedi Massif mountains in Chad.
The plateau was formed by erosion from wind and temperature, and it is characterized by its rugged terrain, mountain ranges, high temperatures, drought, desertification, scarcity of grass and animals, except for lizards, snakes, and scorpions, in addition to the groups of camels that graze at Guelta d’Archei (a pocket of water that forms in drainage canals or wadis in the Sahara).
Ennedi Plateau was inscribed in 2016 in the UNESCO World Heritage List in Chad as part of Ennedi Massif: Natural and Cultural Landscape.
