Southern Moroccan Oasis Biosphere Reserve

Southern Moroccan Oasis Biosphere Reserve is a natural reserve that extends over a vast area, and it includes two distinct ecological zones, the first is the Mediterranean with a humid climate, which includes temperate grasslands, and the second is the extremely dry desert environment in the northeast, which is characterized by the presence of highlands and mountain systems. The area is distinguished by its plant and agricultural diversity, as it includes vast areas of palm trees and acacia forests, in addition to other high-altitude forests covered with Juniperus thurifera trees and Juniperus phoenicea, in addition to oaks and various other trees.
The reserve is also home to many animals, with 63% of birds, 60% of reptiles and 66% of all mammals found in Morocco. Among the most important animals in the region are Dorcas gazelle, Cuvier's gazelle, Barbary sheep, Houbara bustard, and Egyptian cobras.
