Merja Zerga Lagoon
Merja Zerga Lagoon is a tidal lagoon located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. The lagoon is of great national and global importance, as it is considered a habitat for thousands of birds, including endangered species, and a key site on the East Atlantic Flyway.
Its waters also harbor many fish and mollusks. Among the birds in the lake are the ruddy shelduck, common shelduck, gadwall, Eurasian wigeon, northern shoveler, marbled teal, greater flamingo, common coot, pied avocet, grey plover, and the endangered slender-billed curlew.
