Sabkhat al-Jabbul
Sabkhat al-Jabbul is a nature reserve and a salt lake located near the city of al-Safira in the southeast of Aleppo in Syria. The vegetation cover in the reserve generally consists of halophytic plants scattered on the shores of the sabkha and on the islands within it, such as the Salicornia fruticosa, the Halopeplis perfoliata and the Aeluropus lagopoides, as well as the Tamarix macrocarpa and the Arundo donax reed.
Sabkhat al-Jabbul is a destination for many migratory birds such as flamingos, and there are also a few numbers of endangered birds, such as Northern bald ibis, Lesser kestrel, and the Great bustard, as well as some rare visiting species such as corn crake, Dalmatian pelican, white-headed duck and eastern imperial eagle.
