Tabqa Nature Reserve
Tabqa Nature Reserve, also known as Al-Thawra Nature Reserve or Ayed Reserve, is a forest reserve located within Lake Al-Assad on an artificial island formed after the construction of the Euphrates Dam. The reserve includes many forest trees such as Aleppo pine, Pinus brutia, elm, tamarisk, Ailanthus altissima, Artemisia herba-alba, and Salsola vermiculata.
There are some animals in the reserve such as foxes, hares, and deer in addition to reptiles. Lake Al-Assad has also contributed to making the island a destination for migratory and endemic birds.
