Fort Espérance was a Hudson’s Bay Company trading post located along the Qu’Appelle River in what is now Saskatchewan, Canada. It was first established in 1787 AD by the North West Company to compete with the Hudson’s Bay Company in the fur trade, and it became an important supply depot for expeditions traveling west. After the 1821 AD merger of the two companies, the fort continued under Hudson’s Bay Company control until it was abandoned later in the 19th century.
