Fort Dauphin is a historic French fur trading post located near present-day Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada. It was originally established in 1741 AD by Pierre Gaultier de La Vérendrye, a French explorer and trader, as part of New France’s westward expansion. The fort served as a key link in the fur trade network and a base for exploration in the Canadian interior. Though it was later abandoned, the site remains important as a reflection of early French colonial presence in the region.
