Tétouan is a city located in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima in northern Morocco. It was founded by Marinid dynasty in the late 13th century AD. Throughout its long history, it represented a point of contact between Morocco and Andalusia and an example of the great influences of Andalusian civilization in the style of construction and urban planning. The city includes a group of monuments such as mosques, funduqs (Caravanserai) and commercial districts, and it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
