Tanbi Wetland Complex
Tanbi Wetland Complex is a wetland reserve at the mouth of the Gambia River, near Banjul, the capital of The Gambia. The vegetation cover of the reserve consists mainly of mangroves of various types, especially since the reserve includes many tidal lakes and salty mudflats that form at the mouths of rivers.
The reserve is home to small monkey species such as the western red colobus monkey, in addition to the marsh mongoose, the African clawless otter, the West African crocodile, and many birds and parrots. The African manatee is also found on the Atlantic coasts opposite the reserve.
