Niumi National Park
Niumi National Park is a national park located on the coastal strip in the northern region of The Gambia. The reserve includes a variety of wetlands and plants, where freshwater marshes predominate, in addition to sandy areas, brackish lagoons, swamps and mudflats, which constitute an ideal environment for mangrove forests.
The reserve is home to two hundred species of birds, in addition to species of mammals such as the spotted hyena, patas monkey, vervet monkey, warthog and others. The Atlantic coast that the reserve overlooks is characterized by the presence of populations of green turtles, humpback dolphins and Senegalese manatees, all of which are endangered.
