Shibam Kawkaban is a historic fortified town in Al-Mahwit Governorate, Yemen, located on a rocky mountain plateau overlooking the surrounding valleys. Dating back to pre-Islamic times, the site is known for its defensive architecture, stone-built houses, and strategic position along ancient trade and communication routes.
The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Shibam Kawkaban.
