    Great Mosque of Niono is a historic mosque located in the city of Niono in the Ségou Region of Mali. The mosque was built in 1948 AD by a team of bricklayers from the city of Djenné, and it was expanded later through three stages, the first was in 1956 and the second in 1973, and the last one was in the year 1983. The mosque is considered one of the masterpieces of Sudano-Sahelian architecture, and it was awarded the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1983.
    The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, The Great Friday Mosque of Niono.
