Fort Saint-Jean is a historic French military fort located on the Richelieu River in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. It was originally established in 1666 AD by the Carignan-Salières Regiment as part of a network of forts built to defend New France from Iroquois attacks. The original wooden fort was destroyed and later rebuilt multiple times by both French and British forces. During the American Revolutionary War, it was an important British stronghold and the site of a key siege in 1775 AD. Today, the fort is home to the Royal Military College Saint-Jean and includes a museum that preserves its rich military heritage.
