Aammiq Wetland

Aammiq Wetland is a reserve consisting of a group of wetlands formed from the remains of fresh swamps and lakes that once existed in the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon. The reserve is of great importance for global bird migration routes, as many endemic and visiting species have been recorded, such as the white stork, pygmy cormorant, white pelican, greater flamingo, and the ferruginous duck, in addition to the lesser spotted eagle, and the lesser kestrel.
As for the mammals, the most important of which are the Eurasian otter and water buffalo that have been brought into the reserve. There is also gray wolf, red fox, European badger, striped hyena, wild boar, and mountain gazelle, in addition to many reptiles and amphibians.
