Nigerien Part of Lake Chad

Nigerien Part of Lake Chad are the parts that located in Niger. The area is in an arid and semi-arid region that receives little rain annually, and the highest temperatures are recorded during the months of April, May and July, exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
The lake is mainly fed by the Chari and Logone rivers, in addition to a small part of the rainwater. Among the most important plant species there are acacia, Leptadenia pyrotechnica, Balanites aegyptiaca (Egyptian balsam), and Ziziphus mauritiana (Indian jujube).
The area is characterized by animal diversity, where red-fronted gazelle, wild boar, Patas monkey, jackal, rabbit, Fennec fox, Dama gazelle and wild dog are seen. The lake includes large numbers of bird species, in addition to some reptiles in small numbers, such as Nile crocodiles and turtles.

Nigerien Part of Lake Chad was submitted in 2006 to the UNESCO Tentative List in Niger.
