Termit Massif Reserve

Termit Massif Reserve is a protected mountainous and desert area located in southeastern Niger near the Aïr Mountains region in the Ténéré Desert on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert. The reserve is mainly an animal reserve, and its vegetation mainly consists of Sahelian savanna of small, twisted trees, thorn trees and shrubs.
Termit Massif Reserve is characterized by its isolated habitats, which helped create a rich gathering of desert animals, where many endangered species live, such as addax, dama gazelle and dorcas gazelle, Sudan cheetah, Barbary sheep and striped hyena, and others. The reserve is also a habitat for many species of turtles and birds, the most important of which are houbara bustards and vultures.

Termit Massif Reserve was submitted in 2006 to the UNESCO Tentative List in Niger.
