Aïr and Ténéré National Nature Reserve

Aïr and Ténéré National Nature Reserve, or Air and Ténéré Natural Reserves, are two nature reserves located in Niger. The two reserves cover the eastern half of the Aïr Mountains and the western parts of the Ténéré Desert in southern Sahara.
Together, the two reserves make up the second largest nature reserve in Africa and the fourth largest in the world. The two reserves include an impressive array of natural landscapes and species of flora and fauna, in addition to being one of the most important birding areas.

Aïr and Ténéré National Nature Reserve was inscribed in 1991 in the UNESCO World Heritage List in Niger.
The area was also designated in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR) in 1997.
