  • Pine Island Fort and Manchester House

Pine Island Fort and Manchester House were fur trading posts located on Pine Island, a narrow island on the North Saskatchewan River in Saskatchewan, Canada. They operated from 1786 AD to 1793 AD during a period of intense competition between trading companies. Pine Island Fort was established by the North West Company, while Manchester House was operated by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Both posts played important roles in early fur trade activity and interaction with Indigenous nations, particularly the Plains Cree, before being abandoned.
