Constructed between 1895 AD and 1900 AD, it was designed to protect Esquimalt Harbour and the Royal Navy’s Pacific Squadron from potential threats. The fort features well-preserved gun batteries, underground magazines, barracks, and observation posts, showcasing late 19th- and early 20th-century coastal defense technology.
