The Byzantine Church at Petra
The Byzantine Church at Petra, or The Petra Church, is a ruined church that dates back to the Byzantine era and is located in the ancient city of Petra in Ma’an Governorate in southern Jordan. Archaeologists indicate that the church was originally built in the second half of the 5th century AD, and then continued its religious function until the early 7th century when it was destroyed by fire. The church was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985 as part of Petra
