    Sétif is a city located in eastern Algeria and the capital of its eponymous province. The city is distinguished by its ancient history, as it was part of the Phoenician world in the 1st millennium BC, then became part of the Berber kingdom of Numidia, and in the Roman era it became the capital of Mauretania Sitifensis Roman province, all the way to the era of the Islamic conquests in the Maghreb, where the city acquired an Islamic architectural character.
    The site is one of the elements included in the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage designation, Sites, Augustinian places and routes the central Maghreb.
