Seiyun Palace
Seiyun Palace is a monumental mudbrick palace located in the city of Seiyun, Hadhramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen. It was built in the 16th century AD and became the royal residence of the Kathiri sultans, notably after Sultan Badr Abu Tuwaireq restored it in 1584 AD, establishing Seiyun as the capital of the Kathiri state. Rising seven stories atop a natural rocky mound, the palace is among the largest mudbrick structures in the world and is renowned for its height, harmonious design, traditional wooden windows, and the shamsah ventilation shaft.
The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Say’un Palace.
