Laboré Fort, or Gordon's fort at Laboré, is a historical archaeological site located along the Nile River in South Sudan. The fort was constructed between 1874 and 1878 under Charles Gordon as a military garrison during the Turco-Egyptian period. Built on elevated ground overlooking the river, it consists of a large rectangular enclosure surrounded by substantial dry-stone walls, with defensive openings and the remains of internal buildings. Archaeological surveys have uncovered pottery, grinding stones, iron slag, and other artefacts, along with evidence of settlements and agricultural activities surrounding the fort. These remains provide valuable insights into military life and relations between local communities and colonial authorities during the late nineteenth century.
