Deim Zubeir
Deim Zubeir is a historical site located in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, South Sudan. The site was founded in the 1860s by the Sudanese merchant Al-Zubeir Rahma Mansur as a trading center for ivory and enslaved people. It later became a major center of the 19th-century slave trade, featuring fortified enclosures, underground trenches, and holding areas for captives.
The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Deim Zubeir – Slave Route Site.
