Khassaki Sultan Tekke
Khassaki Sultan Tekke
Khassaki Sultan Tekke, or Haseki Sultan Tekke, is a historical tekke (an Islamic charitable complex for worship, remembrance, and provision of food for travelers and visitors), located near Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem, Palestine. The tekke was founded in 1552 AD by Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana), the wife of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. It is considered an important historical landmark in the city of Jerusalem, and to this day it still provides meals to the poor throughout the year.
