Grand Mosque of Chefchaouen is a historic mosque located in Chefchaouen city in Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima in northwest Morocco. The construction of the mosque dates back to the 15th century AD when the Moroccan city of Chefchaouen was founded by Ali ibn Rashid al-Alami, an Idrisid and descendant of Sufi saint Abd as-Salam ibn Mashish al-Alami. In another version, the foundation date goes back to the 16th century AD. The mosque is distinguished by its octagonal minaret, and it was renovated several times in later periods, the last of which was in 2006.
