Wood Buffalo National Park
Wood Buffalo National Park is Canada's largest national park and the second-largest national park in the world. It is located in northeastern Alberta and the southwest Northwest Territories.
Famous for housing the largest free-roaming herd of wood bison in the world, the park plays an important role in their protection, and serves as an important breeding ground for the endangered whooping crane, underlining its great ecological importance. Other animals in the park include American Black bears, American martens, Bald eagles, Canada lynxes, Great Grey owls, Hawks and Marmots.
Wood Buffalo National Park was inscribed in 1983 in the UNESCO World Heritage List in Canada.
