  • K’cimi Dancing of Tropojë

K’cimi is a festive traditional dance from Albania, especially associated with the people of Tropojë. It is performed during weddings, birthdays, village celebrations, and other social or ceremonial gatherings.
Dancers usually face one another without touching, moving rhythmically around each other while raising and lowering their arms. The dance may be accompanied by drums, and participants sometimes wear traditional clothing, while women may wave a red handkerchief.
Linked to spring celebrations, mountain landscapes, and the symbolic flight of eagles, K’cimi expresses strength, shared identity, and belonging. It is passed down mainly through observation and participation, especially during family and community events.

K’cimi Dancing of Tropojë was inscribed in 2024 on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in Albania.
