    Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn town located in eastern Georgia, east of the town of Gori in Shida Kartli region. The site is considered to be one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. Strategically located in the heartland of ancient kingdom of Iberia, it emerged as a major political and religious center of the country.
    The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Uplistsikhe Cave Town.
