Um Qais
Umm Qais is a historic town in northwestern Jordan, best known for the ruins of ancient Gadara, one of the cities of the Decapolis. The site preserves important Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman remains, including black basalt architecture, Roman urban features, and a traditional Ottoman village overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Lake Tiberias.
The site is included on the UNESCO Tentative List under the official name, Gadara (Modern Um Qeis or Qays).
