Lunenburg is a historical port town located in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is well known for its architecture from the 18th century, lively waterfront, and maritime history. The city was established in 1753 AD and is regarded as an illustration of an organized British settlement in North America. The city's original rectangular grid plan and general appearance, which was mapped out in the country of origin, have been preserved. By conserving the wooden architecture of the houses, some of which date from the 18th century, the residents have been able to preserve the city's identity over the years. Lunenburg was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
The site is a UNESCO World Heritage site with the official name, Old Town Lunenburg.
