L’Anse aux Meadows is an archaeological site located in Newfoundland island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is dating back to 1000 AD, and considered the only known Norse settlement in North America. The site contains several well-preserved sod houses and artifacts that demonstrate Viking settlement in the New World. L’Anse aux Meadows sheds light on early transatlantic travel and cultural exchange by providing insight into Viking exploration and encounters with indigenous people.
